Flea market findings: Crystal Glasses

For as long as I´m in Vienna, I always wanted to visit the big fleamarket that´s part of the Naschmarkt every Saturday, but I got told that I had to be there pretty early to get some of the good stuff - and by early, I mean between 7 and 8 AM. That sounded way too cruel for me to get up that early on a Saturday for a long time, but I finally managed to do it. So yesterday, I really got up and went there and I have to say, I wasn´t disappointed at all. Of course there is a lot of crap offered as well, but if you look closely, you´ll find some real gems. We´ve spent two hours looking around and I found 4 amaaaaaazing crystal glasses with a gold trimming for 12 €, 4 matching champagne glasses for 5 € and a vintage crab brooch for 10 € (which was kind of a compulsive buy, but I love it anyways).
No matter what you´re looking for, you´re gonna find it at this huge fleamarket, especially when it comes to glassware. Can´t wait to serve some cocktails to my friends in my new crystal glasses!

Millennium Water Project

On one of my hunts for interior design inspiration I came across the most beautifully decorated apartment I have ever seen. To me, this is perfection. Lots of white, pink, blue and neutral hues and a touch of glamour by some silver accents like the pouf (definitely on my shopping list)!

Reading Tip: Lonny Magazine

Attention, all of you interior lovers (Interiornistas?) out there!

While enjoying my evening after work at home and reading my favorite blogs (no, I don´t consider blogs as actual literature), I came across an online magazine I didn´t know yet - and while scrolling through the pages, I knew I had to share this amazingness (is that even a word?!) with you!
Lonny Mag is an online paper you can read for free and has amazing features of interior decoration, party planning and architecture - seriously, it´s deco heaven made accessible from home!
You can even click on the featured items to directly buy them or to see info on prices and designers.

For now, I´m wishing you all an amazing evening (hint: too tired to write anymore) - suggestion on how to spend it: pour yourself a glass of wine, cut some cheese and browse through Lonny. At least, that´s what I plan to do. Imagine that phone conversation with my boyfriend:
"Hey babe, what are you doing?" - "Sorry darling, busy with Lonny right now."

All of those pics are from the January issue - but see for yourself!
(Especially love Jessica Goranson´s New York apartment - just wow!)

Everyday Joy

One of my newest addictions is definitely Etsy. I browse through those cute little shops almost everyday, always on the hunt for new gems, be it for the apartment or jewellery or anything else one can think of.
On the pics below you see my latest findings of my favorite Etsy stores. The chain necklace with the rhinestones I´m most proud of because I literally sat in front of my computer for an hour, waiting for Jenn (the store owner) to update her shop with new necklaces and then finally bought my "Audrey" the minute it got online - and 5 minutes later, the shop was completely sold out again. I follow Jenn and her "Ell and Emm" shop on instagram (Jenn5716), therefore I knew I had to be fast if I wanted to catch one of her beauuuuutiful necklaces - girls all over the world commented on her pics and set their alarm clock in the middle of the night just to wake up and finally get their own Audrey when Jenn put them online. Lucky me, I guess :)
Then there are my precious matchboxes from the Etsy store "Annechovie". They also sell amazing prints and pillows, have a look! Finally, my latest addition to my Etsy collection is the acrylic tray with a pink and gold glitter chevron pattern. It was a limited edition by the shop "Tilly Maison" and it´s perfect for displaying jewellery or other fine objects such as candles or nailpolish.

Here is the complete list of my favorite stores on Etsy:

1. For prints, pillows and matchboxes: Annechovie
2. For amazing jewellery: Ell and Emm
3. For acrylic trays: Tilly Maison
4. For bracelets: Oia Jules
5. For blog designs: Studio 650
6. For delicate wishbone necklaces: Bluegrassloft
7. For the cutest bow rings: Apple Latte
8. For amazing bracelets and trays: The Way We Are

DIY : dotted canvas

A while ago I stumbled upon an amazing Instagram account ("thepinkdiary") and saw a super easy DIY project to glam up my dresser where I also keep my jewellery. Now, the owner of The Pink Diary also opened her own Tumblr, "The Silky Diary" - have a look at my blogroll on the right column of my blog to find her. Anyway, with that much inspiration I instantly wanted to do this pretty little gold dotted canvas myself.
And here is what you´ll need for this cute and artsy picture:

-  a square canvas (mine is 40x 40cm which is a little too big, i´d recommend 30x30cm)
- craft glue (should be a strong one)
- punch press for circles
- gold and glitter paper

Here is what you´ll do: punch, pattern, glue.

FINISH.

Rather easy, right?

My favorite spot.

Even though I told you that I didn´t want to show you my apartment, I decided that this little corner is too beautiful to keep it to myself. It was the first thing that was finished or let´s say almost finished - I´m sure that I will add some more pictures or random deco objects to the shelf. Everytime I sit on my sofa and look at the wall vis-à-vis, I´m happy with the way it looks. Also, I have to laugh everytime I look at those fake flowers, because my friend Judith simply hates them with all her heart but I love the pop of color they bring to my living room - and that I don´t have to take care of them :)
I hope you´re not getting sick of all the apartment-related posts because I´m not done yet :)

Inspire me please.

As you all know, I moved from Salzburg to Vienna recently. Moving was more work than I thought but I really loved furnishing my apartment and creating my own home for the first time. It seems like I was almost too motivated about decorating, painting and building together furniture in the first few months and slowly my energy dropped. There it was, a big hole that left no power but for chilling on my super big sofa.
I just needed a little break from my apartment, but now I´m back and ready to finish what I started. Still so many things have to be done and I was looking for inspiration on how to design my entryway or to decorate little, spare corners of my flat. And while the internet offers loads of information and inspiration, there is nothing better and more inspiring out there than a beautiful book. I came along these two below - one about decorating with colors and one about creating unique rooms with a personal touch. I simply love both of them and they already did their job - my inner list of projects for the apartment is growing already again! (want to get them as well? simply click on the titles)

This is how I store my coffeetable books, since my coffeetables aren´t big enough to hold them:

a golden thought

over the past few months some glossyboxes have been collected and i´ve been using them as a storage for jewellry and nailpolish. nevertheless, i always wanted to recreate something else out of the covers but never knew what i wanted to do. in the meantime i´ve been unsuccessfully looking for a nice, rectangular tray to hold my candles and display my favorite small things! so when vicky came up with this idea to spray paint her dino last week, i finally knew what the solution was. she was kind enough to lend me her gold spray and i started gilding my boxes. here is the outcome of what i did! do you like the golden look as well?

here is what i was working with:

a blue and gold box in the entryway to hold my keys and loose money:

this is the tray i´m most satisfied with:

for the vanity station next to my bed i wanted to do something more creative to hold little things like earrings, lipbalm or earplugs (yes, i really need them to sleep) in place. so i started looking around my apartment for things that would separate each section and found chinese chopsticks and pink straws.
i simply stuck the chopsticks (the length is perfect) into the box and sprayed them gold as well. after that, i glued the smaller pieces of straw onto the bottom and taaadaaa - pink and gold organization tray was finished:

and a little instagram pic of how i use the golden brush pot in my bathroom:

in the right light.

some of you guys might remember my whole moving process from salzburg to vienna. after 3 months of transporting furniture, negotiating with italian deliverymen, blood sweat and tears, decorating and redecorating, brainstorming with myself on pinterest in search for inspiration, i can now proudly say: it´s done! the outcome is better than i could have imagined and i truly love my new flat. it´s come out classy, modern, elegant but also very cozy - i just feel like home the second i open my door. of course there is still a lot to do and i have some ideas that i want to realize over the next few months, but for now i´m pretty happy with the way it is. i won´t show you guys my whole place of furniture because this is a thing i want to keep to myself - my little secret, beautiful apartment. but i decided on showing you some details to give you an idea of how my place looks like and what has been the main focus of furbishing and decorating the rooms.

i want to start by showing you my lamps - it turned out that the lighting was the cherry on top. i had already finished furnishing with the big things like table and chairs or sofa  and just installed the lamps this last week. from one second to another, the whole place felt different and literally lightened up.

here are the links to my lamps if you feel like purchasing them:

P.S: can you spot me somewhere in these pics?

how to...recycle an old candle.

today i want to show you guys some crafty stuff - how to recycle an old, burned down candle and save a lot of money instead of buying expensive perfumed candles. just make your own! so here is what you will need for this SUPER EASY DIY!

1. some wick (shouldn´t be too short, i bought 4 about 12 cm wicks)

2. preserving jar, water glass, metal bin or any other container for your new candles (i got these cute jar glasses from butlers)

3. scented oil (you get it at any regular drugstore, i chose spruce and lemongrass as flavors)

4. either an old candle that you want to recycle or some new, big and cheap ones that you want to convert into perfumed candles

i started by chopping my big old candle into pieces.
the bottom of the originally white candle turned grey because of the smut but i really liked that and decided to make three candle tones: grey, white and a mixture of both.

i melted my candle by putting a metal bowl into a bigger pot with boiling water. my recommendation is to take a bowl that you won´t be using much after that because it´s really hard to get it clean again.
when the wax has melted, add a scent of your choice - don´t be afraid of using too much, the scent easily evaporates because of the heat.

in the meantime, cut your wick to the desired length. don´t cut it too short, you will need the length while the candle is hardening.
when the wax has fully melted, fill it into your containers. after that, add some scent again and repeat it a few times during the hardening process. as for the wick, fix it to a wooden stick with scotch tape or something similar, otherwise you will be standing in front of the candle for an hour, holding the wick straight while the candle is hardening.

i repeated the steps above for each "color" and waited for an hour or so.
be very carefull with filling in the hot wax and do it rather slowly so that the glass won´t break because of the heat.

finish! this is how my candles turned out!
i think this is also a perfect, personal gift - will definitely do this again and try out other scents and bins.
now you can go ahead and have fun making your own scented candles!

Ikat Dreams

now i finally understand what people mean when they say: you are never done with furbishing an apartment.
it´s so true, everytime i think i´m fully equipped and done with decorating or moving things around i find some places in my home where i could still fit in a mirror, painting, a tray or vase or other decorative elements.
these items are on my wishlist right now - i discovered this amazing online store called CWonderstore.
they have basically everything one could wish for with ikat prints or other cute designs.
the gold athena leaf tray (this one is from Vanillawood actually) is perfect for holding jewellery or displaying other items as well as the ceramic plate with the giraffe (they also have that one with other animals).
also, one can never go wrong with some candles like this one from diptyque.
note cards are cute for dinner invitations (place cards) or for a quick note added to a present.

now here´s the bad news - i fell in love with most of the stuff from CWonderstore only to find out that they are not shipping to austria.
bad for me, good for you guys who live in america! but at least i can get the gold leaf tray :)
but i will go on a hunt to find at least some similar items that are available in austria as well!

additionally, i highly to recommend these stores to you:

- Design Darling (for decorative objects)
- Muji or The Container Store (for acrylic storage)
- The Party Fairy (for party accessories)
- Jonathan Adler (for trays)
- A Modern Style (for monogrammed chevron home decor)
- Society Social (for great vintage bar carts)
- Annechovie (for prints and jar matches)

kiss from a rose

i was very inspired by anna´s  post about her putting flowers everywhere around her apartment to pretty up her space. fresh flowers are something that i wanted to get since i moved in but somehow never managed to actually do it - but now i did and am so happy about the fresh smell in every room and the nice look the instantly provide. so now my plan is to buy fresh flowers at least twice a month - the simplest and most beautiful way to redecorate a flat on a regular basis.
