The Daily Dose x EQUA

Wear this: Bangkok

Flea market findings: Crystal Glasses

For as long as I´m in Vienna, I always wanted to visit the big fleamarket that´s part of the Naschmarkt every Saturday, but I got told that I had to be there pretty early to get some of the good stuff - and by early, I mean between 7 and 8 AM. That sounded way too cruel for me to get up that early on a Saturday for a long time, but I finally managed to do it. So yesterday, I really got up and went there and I have to say, I wasn´t disappointed at all. Of course there is a lot of crap offered as well, but if you look closely, you´ll find some real gems. We´ve spent two hours looking around and I found 4 amaaaaaazing crystal glasses with a gold trimming for 12 €, 4 matching champagne glasses for 5 € and a vintage crab brooch for 10 € (which was kind of a compulsive buy, but I love it anyways).
No matter what you´re looking for, you´re gonna find it at this huge fleamarket, especially when it comes to glassware. Can´t wait to serve some cocktails to my friends in my new crystal glasses!

There are sooo many great fleamarkets in Vienna, but ever since I´m living here, I didn´t have time to participate in one. But now, the time has come to say goodbye to some of my favorite pieces - if I could, I would hold on to them forever but I think it´s unhealthy for mind and soul to keep too many things inside your closet. So people, come and visit me next Saturday at the burnLab in Vienna, where you can purchase some really cool things from my closet - e.g. my Steve Madden sandals that I´ve worn only ONCE or some designer glasses by Dsquared and some BRANDNEW, never worn bags from Longchamp.  For more info´s check out the Facebook event here.

This is some of the stuff I will be selling, soooo goooo and meet me there guys, looking forward to seeing you!

Bag Lovin´

With spring coming, I´m looking around for some new goodies that also make me feel like spring.
Those below are among the front runners, due to color and form. Michael Kors is always a favorite of mine, and I´ll tell you something: that pink little beauty is already on it´s way to me, YAY! I´m absolutely in love with the shape and pink color, it´s amazing! Then - the MCM Drawstring bag. This.Is.Love. I swear!!!! I saw this bag and instantly fell for it, the shape and MCM pattern...haaaa....definitely saving up some money for that one! And just think about how well it fits to my new wallet! And last not least, the Michael Kors Jet Set Travel Bag in a gorgeous dark blue with gold accents - to me, this is classic perfection. Imagine: MK Travel Bag, me in a white blouse with my Ray Ban´s on, hair blowing in the wind...OK, this is going way too far now :)

Tell me, what are your favorites for spring?

What I noticed lately...

pic via

...on many blogs or even in my reader´s comments is that a new wave of shop-stop is coming around.
Madeleine was the first one to write about it, and many of my readers and my friends have told me that one of their main goals was to shop more considerate or even stop shopping at all for a certain period of time in 2013. I think that people just have had enough of this shopping craziness of 2012.

I think it is very interesting to watch how this movement is shifting around the blogosphere right now and I also set it as a goal for 2013 to sell some of my old stuff and buy less clothes.

When I started blogging at the beginning of last year, I suddenly felt the need to keep up with other bloggers, wanted to update my wardrobe constantly, presented my latest findings to the world and never felt relieved when I bought something new - because 5 minutes later I saw something even better, cooler or newer on another blog.

I have already mentioned in the post about my plans for this year that this need of consumption has gotten to a point where my family and boyfriend are worried that I may be a compulsive shopper. Most of the times it annoys me so much that they always have that look on their face when I tell them that I bought something new and sometimes I don´t even tell them anymore to avoid it.
But I´m not able to save some money because almost everything that I earn goes straight into Zara, Westwing or Amazon again, so deep down I know that they are right and I have to stop.

Also, I have a job where I have to dress very elegant and "grown-up", so whenever I have time to wear all the things that I bought, I don´t even like them anymore because another trend took over already and I feel like living behind the moon for not wearing camouflage or neon.

Another thing that really upsets me is that I´ve lost my very personal style a little because I suddenly had access to all these übercool bloggers that I didn´t even know existed before, and I really liked how they looked and what they were wearing - but the problem was, I forgot that it was them and not me.
I was always that kind of girl that liked a very clean, elegant style with blazers, blouses, shirts and jeans - and it fit me so well! Now, I´m trying to layer up a million of plaid shirts and sparkling necklaces but I never feel truely comfortable because that´s not how I´d dress if I hadn´t seen it on Chiara Ferragni or Pink Peonies.

Now, for 2013, I have decided on a new shopping concept to avoid compulsive purchases that are not really "me". If there is any real role model out there, it has to be Olivia Palermo - she has the most timeless, effortless, cool and chic look out there - and look at her, does she ever layer up? Mix prints and bejewel herself like a christmas tree? Does she wear armparties like a gypsy and shoes like a hooker? NO. So why do we do it sometimes? I don´t know a single woman in Austria that dresses like most of the bloggers want us to believe they do - high heels and skirts all the time? Don´t think so.

Now, whenever I wanna buy something new, I ask myself this question, and trust me, it really works:
Would Olivia wear this? If the answer to the question is no, I´ll have to think twice about getting the desired piece. And it has started showing results already, this little voice inside me saying "get that get that get that" keeps getting quieter every day and it feels sooo good not having to buy everything I see and like for a second. Another role model when it comes to shopping is Vicky: she is super successful with her blog and inspiring to a lot of people, but knowing her, I never feel like she has this urge to go and buy something new - she´s just mixing up what she has and buys some fancy, more expensive pieces once in a while that she is suuuuper super happy about for a long time.

On another note: I´m also blaming Instagram for wanting all this stuff because I follow a lot of cool shop owners and bloggers that present their latest stuff on Instagram and it has made it sooo easy for me to find out where all the goodies are coming from.

I´m telling you all of this because I think it is important that this pressure coming from blogs or blogging stops and I feel like a lot of you have the same problem. I don´t want to be the person who puts even more pressure on my readers, so trust me, I´m struggling too.

Also, I asked myself why readers would want to come back to my blog if all they saw there is just another girl who´s trying to look like everybody else out there. I´ll promise you that all you will see of me in the future is the true me and nothing else.

In the end, only authentic people are able to inspire others and to express themselves.
Everything else just limits who you truely are.

Wishes made under the tree

It wouldn´t be Christmas without a wishlist. Normally, this wishlist should be addressed to the Christ Child, but maybe exactly that is under one of my lovely readers - or at least I hope so :)
I admit that I have pretty expensive wishes, but there is a reason for the existance of the word WISH, right?

1. Headphones by Wearefrends: that´s pure tech-perfection! Never seen any headphones that beautiful!

2. Studded Rucksack by MCM: a classic beauty in a new design - perfect for travelling or shopping!

3. Rain drop mirror by Neiman Marcus: I soooooo want one for my entrance or above my dresser!

4. Dishwasher by Elektra Bregenz: *Cough*, no I didn´t own a dishwasher until now - but my parents were kind enough to fulfill this wish already - no more dish washing by hand, YEAH!

5. Insolite Wallet in pink by Louis Vuitton: this one has been sold out for over a year and now it´s no longer being produced - dear Santa, dear Christkind, dear Boyfriend, dear whoever nice person out there, PLEASE get me this wallet somehow - you know Ebay, right?

6. Wine Country candle by Woodwick via Westwing: it is actually on sale on Westwing right now, only for the next three days, but I couldn´t bring myself to order a candle for 40 Euros right before Christmas (even if it smells like Merlot).
Mom, Dad, Girlfriends, BF, if you are reading this and don´t have anything for me yet - how about this one? And babe, anniversary is coming up soon anyways :)

7. White and Pink Taxidermy via Etsy: also a nice decoration element for the entryway, only saw it right before creating this collage and instantly fell in love!

8. Toggle Heart Necklace by Tiffany: this has been on my wishlist for sooooo long, if I don´t get it this year, I´ll go get it myself! Hmpf!

Everyday Joy

One of my newest addictions is definitely Etsy. I browse through those cute little shops almost everyday, always on the hunt for new gems, be it for the apartment or jewellery or anything else one can think of.
On the pics below you see my latest findings of my favorite Etsy stores. The chain necklace with the rhinestones I´m most proud of because I literally sat in front of my computer for an hour, waiting for Jenn (the store owner) to update her shop with new necklaces and then finally bought my "Audrey" the minute it got online - and 5 minutes later, the shop was completely sold out again. I follow Jenn and her "Ell and Emm" shop on instagram (Jenn5716), therefore I knew I had to be fast if I wanted to catch one of her beauuuuutiful necklaces - girls all over the world commented on her pics and set their alarm clock in the middle of the night just to wake up and finally get their own Audrey when Jenn put them online. Lucky me, I guess :)
Then there are my precious matchboxes from the Etsy store "Annechovie". They also sell amazing prints and pillows, have a look! Finally, my latest addition to my Etsy collection is the acrylic tray with a pink and gold glitter chevron pattern. It was a limited edition by the shop "Tilly Maison" and it´s perfect for displaying jewellery or other fine objects such as candles or nailpolish.

Here is the complete list of my favorite stores on Etsy:

1. For prints, pillows and matchboxes: Annechovie
2. For amazing jewellery: Ell and Emm
3. For acrylic trays: Tilly Maison
4. For bracelets: Oia Jules
5. For blog designs: Studio 650
6. For delicate wishbone necklaces: Bluegrassloft
7. For the cutest bow rings: Apple Latte
8. For amazing bracelets and trays: The Way We Are

After commuting between Vienna and Salzburg almost every weekend since I live here, I´m very excited to spend the next two days in town. Me and my babe have lots of fun things planned, including a dinner at famous "Kim kocht" (we´ve been on the waitlist for 4 months until we got this table),
a party at Kattus champagne producer, a shopping spree at the designer outlet in Parndorf and some drinks/dinner with our closest friends at Figls. Since Vicky is not only my friend but my bad conscious as well and has the self discipline of a soldier when it comes to doing sports (see her post about running outdoors in winter here), I´m planning to get some thermo sportswear at the Nike or Adidas outlet and maybe we´ll visit Michael Kors and Diesel as well :) What are your plans for this weekend? Looking forward to something as well?
